Mayor Coleman and Payne Maryland Partnership to Announce Visioning Agency for East Side Project

Saint Paul Mayor Chris Coleman and the Payne Maryland Partnership will announce the agency selected to create a visioning plan for a community campus around a key intersection on the East Side - Payne and Maryland Avenues at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14 at the Arlington Recreation Center, 665 East Rose Ave., Saint Paul, MN, 55106.

The Payne Maryland Partnership is a team of public organizations, businesses, and individuals who share a love and appreciation for the history and traditions of the East Side of Saint Paul. The team founded this organization to spotlight the potential for revitalization of this prime East Side intersection in an Invest Saint Paul neighborhood. Together, the Payne Maryland Partnership, the visioning agency, and community members will conduct a cooperative process to develop a plan for neighborhood revitalization and redevelopment.

The selected agency will be the lead author in an innovative and visionary plan that will integrate strategic planning, architecture, historic preservation and sustainable design for a community campus setting. The visioning plan will be finalized by April 1, 2008.

Members of the partnership include: Arlington Hills Lutheran Church, Bradshaw Funeral Home, Karin Davidson, Merrick Community Services, The City of Saint Paul Saint Paul Public Library, Saint Paul Parks and Recreation, Saint Paul Public Schools and many other organizations.

Saint Paul Mayor Chris Coleman, Commissioner Dan Bostrom and community partners will be available to discuss The Payne Maryland Partnership and the visioning process.
